The compact track loader market is entering a new phase as manufacturers look for ways to simplify product lineups while giving contractors more choices. Yanmar is rolling out a new generation of compact track loaders across North America, raising an important question for longtime ASV customers: what happens to the ASV brand?
The answer is a brand transition rather than the disappearance of ASV technology. Yanmar announced its “One Yanmar” strategy in 2026, bringing its Yanmar and ASV compact track loader offerings together under the Yanmar brand in North America. The plan preserves ASV’s signature Posi-Track undercarriage technology while creating a unified product lineup. ASV-branded loaders will be phased out in this market as the transition progresses. Other markets may continue to offer ASV-branded equipment.
New Yanmar Models Combine Engine Power With ASV Track Technology
The transition began with the TL25RP, TL40RP, and TL50RP compact track loaders, followed by six additional models announced in August 2026. The expanded lineup includes machines with different lifting configurations and operating capacities, giving contractors options for landscaping, construction, forestry, land management, and material handling.
One of the most notable features is the ASV Posi-Track undercarriage. Unlike conventional steel-embedded track systems, Posi-Track uses flexible tracks and a fully suspended torsion-axle design. This configuration is engineered to provide traction, flotation, and a smoother ride on soft, wet, uneven, or hilly ground.
Yanmar will continue offering steel-embedded undercarriage options on selected models, so buyers can choose a system suited to their operating conditions. Posi-Track technology is particularly relevant to contractors who frequently work on sensitive lawns, soft soil, and challenging terrain.
What Does This Mean for ASV Owners?
For existing ASV owners, the key issue is not simply the badge on the machine. Parts availability, dealer support, maintenance, and long-term operating costs matter far more.
The brand transition does not mean ASV’s Posi-Track technology is being abandoned. Instead, it is being incorporated into Yanmar-branded loaders, with the Posi-Track name retained to identify machines equipped with the system.
Owners should continue following their equipment’s maintenance schedule and confirm parts compatibility using the exact model and serial number. When purchasing replacement components, it is important to distinguish between the machine’s track system and its specific rollers, sprockets, idlers, and other undercarriage parts.
Why Undercarriage Maintenance Still Matters
Regardless of the brand name, compact track loaders operate in demanding conditions. Rubber tracks, rollers, idlers, and sprockets are exposed to dirt, abrasion, heavy loads, and repeated turning. Incorrect track tension or worn components can accelerate wear and lead to unnecessary downtime.
Regular inspections help operators identify damaged tracks, uneven roller wear, and sprocket deterioration before problems become more expensive. Choosing suitable replacement parts and maintaining the undercarriage correctly can help extend service life and keep equipment productive.
At FL Machinery, we support contractors, dealers, and distributors with excavator, loader, and dozer parts, including undercarriage components and hydraulic parts.
